I can’t find stats to support this but surely heading of the ball has reduced drastically in todays game given the way it’s played. Far less long ball and route one, inverted wingers and the death of old fashioned 9s that want it hung up for heading etc
You’d expect that the threat of dementia which has surfaced with the 80s and 90s players will reduce hugely due to styles of play and weight of today’s ball. I have no problem with Varane talking about that. Coming from an elite sportsman it holds weight. |
