well perhaps if they were the Club Captain & were being linked daily with a move away they would feel it appropriate to make a statement.

Surely having a player who's reputedly costing 300,000 per week in wages and is no longer seen as a vital first team player will be playing havoc with Ed's budgeting plans for next season.
