United
City
Chelsea
Spurs
Arsenal

Fergie was the greatest manager ever, and obviously losing him hurts the team, but I seriously think people are underestimating the players themselves by suggesting it's the just the manager that wins and loses games.

City over Chelsea based on having a better defence. Spurs over Arsenal based on Arsenal having a paper thin squad.

Can't see Chelsea unless they get a top-notch striker, and even then the centre backs are suspect. People think Mourinho's going to make a difference, but his halo has slipped, and apart from Grant, most of the managers who've followed him there have been top class anyway.

City made the signings they needed to make I fear.

I think City are going to have a lot of problems with disgruntled players. Throw in a few reverses and it's dressing room kindling.

Why would we be favourites ?
Chelsea didn't address their glaring weakness at striker, and their best manager in the world was a borderline failure at his last job. People blame that on Madrid egos, but what do you think he's walking into now? John Terry still expects to play every game.

Good points grimmers. He seems to be a little more reserved, I assume he will buy another striker, that lukacku (sp) could be a dark horse though.

If you are right and Arsenal miss out on the top 5, could that be it for Wenger?

(and who would be the longest serving PL manager then?)

Talking

Chelsea can only win the league if they can get hold of a good striker ( they'd have a great chance with Rooney). They also are still suspect in defence still and rely far too heavily on Mata as their creative force.

United have to be favourites as long as the spine is strong with De Gea, Carrick, RVP and Vidic remaining fit for as much of the season as possible. If we can get hold of another midfielder that will further strengthen our chances of winning the league. So United strong favourites for me.

City will be second again.

I'd go for Tottenham Whitespurs as 4th (cheers Soccerguy )
