Especially given our obvious desperate need to add some decent players.

Chairmen can spot him a mile off, he's not exactly been keeping a lid on how much money we're looking to spend ... £150M here, £200M there, major squad rebuilding etc.

He's up there with Kenyon in the dopey @#%&! stakes.

Indeed, now that 70+ appears to be the going rate for the top tier contracted players.

He's twenty-nine in August. Too old.

I'm not surprised Southampton have rejected it tbh. As others have said, everybody knows how desperate we're going to be for players and Woodward has been shouting his £#%&!ing gob off to the press about how much money we're looking to spend for months.

At this rate if the club are looking to spend £150m we'll get about 3 players for that.

Since when is a first offer accepted? We'll end up paying closer to 35m and it will still be worth it tbh.

In the interests of fairness I would point out that nobody else appears to be reporting this and Jamie Jackson is a tool

Well apparently according to most of the 'in the know' #@&%!s online....this was all weeks in the making and everything was agreed and all we had to do was cross the t's and dot the I's.

Thumbs down

So at least two papers running with bid accepted, a few saying bid lodged and one saying bid rejected. FFS I almost forgot how infuriating the summer window is

Nothing in the other papers (rejection). Mail saying £27m fee agreed. Still reckon it'll happen

Still think this deal will happen, im sure some on here think buying a player is no different to buying a car, find one you like, pay the cash or agree the payments, sign the deal done!!

But if Southampton do start acting like @#%&!s we should leave it and get Rodriguez instead.

In comparison to club income and profits at the time, it's no more an overpayment than 2 million was for pallister back in 89. Ferdinand was around twice as expensive, in terms of transfer fee in proportion to profits, when we bought him. We just think it's a lot to pay now because of our conditioning by the glazers and fergie since they took over.
