Mate, i think you're missing the point.
Carrick's not the first of his type to be misused by England.

Just on Scholes, I do not think Beckham helped Scholes as an England player. As his fame and ego grew he wanted to play more and more Hero Ball(see his famous Greece game) Constantly hitting 60 yard passes looking for the striker. England had one of the finest playmakers in the world in Scholes and he spent most of his England career being bypassed and chasing knock downs.

Needed a manager to restrain the players, not just Beckham but Gerrard who was equally as self indulgent, build a more sustainable, patient style of play that would not leave them shattered in the tournaments.

Why?

For suggesting that one reason a player is underrated by the Abu media is their constant overlooking of him when they do their annual "best of the best" %@#$&!s

Given the remedials who have managed England it's no great surprise.

Sam Allardyce wouldn't have the first clue what to do with him.

"Carrick? Well 'e weren't blood n thunder enough fer me England team. Didn't even go over t'ball early doors to lerrem know 'e were there. Gi' me Mark Noble any day o' t'week. Anyroad, 'ow much is in this envelope again? The missus wants a new 'ot tub"

Who knew you'd need someone who can pick good passes out to get more out of Pogba? Reintegrate Basti and have him and Carrick sharing that position between them for the rest of the season and we're good for a top three finish and a couple of cup finals.
