Our youth team has won one in the last 10 now or something. Lost the other 9.

There are three or four pretty good u18 prospects who mainly play u21s due to lack of older players which leaves a fair few 16 year olds filling in for the u18s in league games. But it's been well publicised lately that United are spending way less on the academy than City or Chelsea are.

Our youths are 31 pts behind city in the u18s and 30 pts behind Liverpool.

Woody effect. Cancer spreading throughout the whole club, every area.

Our U21s are 2nd, with 3 games in hand, and on course to retain the title. For the 4th time in 5 years.

United's academy costs £3.5million a year to run, woefully shy of the £12m pumped into City's set-up and the £7m Chelsea invest in their lavish academy system.

Coaches are paid £20,000 a year at United, around half of that being paid to the very best at City.

To get so much as a new set of balls, bibs and cones, the purchase order needs to be seen by that many sets of eyes at Old Trafford that academy staff have given up pleading for investment.

The club's technical board, executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward and the club's owners, the Glazer family, are across every item of expenditure. A new order can take three months to be signed off, a ludicrous amount of time for a club ranked third in the Deloitte money list on Wednesday with annual revenues of £400.3m.

If Guardiola doesn't turn up at United, the best thing that could happen remains LvG turning it around, gaining more power and staying to force a proper re-structuring of the club. Can't help but feel Fergie may have missed a trick in terms of solidifying certain elements and investment of the academy before he left. But it shouldn't all be down to the manager; ideally the club would have a general clue.

The spending/cost cutting constraints have long been rumoured to be ridiculous, going back to 2005 and the rumours of the things that had been cut. Basically we're a £#%&!ing joke, a shell of a club. Testament to Fergie that what he had in place and the manner in which he had the club running took so long to £#%&!ing ruin

Fergie maintaining that success without investment in the academy probably undermined it even more. The owners probably think it's an inconvenience and money is better spent on buying the finished product. Coaches at United on £20k per year ffs.
