He’ll be here next season.
I think the lack of outstanding candidate to replace him has something to do with it but I also think the likes of Ashworth and the bike baldy Jim has brought with him will understand the huge impact the injuries have had on us. They’ll want to asses him and won’t want to rush into a new manager in their first summer imo. And I honestly think they’ll have one eye on how McKenna is doing at Ipswich. A highly rated coach and if the ITK’s are to be believed (yeah I know) that’s exactly what they want… a coach to just concentrate on the first team. Saying that I think Erik will surprise a few if he’s allowed to just concentrate on the first team. |

you’d have to be a lunatic to be inspired by this man This is the manager of a big club that wants to dominate . He doesn’t even have the aura or charisma! it’s like they gave the kit man the mic last minute and told him to say something! If he is here next season mark my words we wil be just as bad! Feel free to bring up my posts from August about how this season will go under him! |

Only way I would understand keeping him is IF the options to replace him are Southgate, otherwise I want to see a change but still think there is a real possibility he stays.
Nope, also beating City in Cup Final wouldn't change vote but prepared to give some credit if it happened |

We're still 8th and it's still been a disaster of a season so far. One result changes nothing, just as the Spurs result changed nothing before Ole was sacked. 3 wins in our last 10 league games isn't something anyone should be getting giddy about.

The booking sites are all queueing up odds for the next manager.
I'd be surprised if Ten Hag isn't sacked at this point...where there is smoke there is fire. The Poch is currently the favourite. 1. Poch 2. De Zerbi 3. Southgate 4. Tuchel 5. McKenna Any brave souls want to place their bet on Roy Keane? (66 to 1) https://www.bettingodds.com/thesackr...chester-united |

Think it's going to be Southgate, and it was sorted weeks ago, maybe months. Yet to see if the new ownership can have any real positive influence on the football side of things, but I don't reckon they're the sort to leave it to the last minute and then scramble over whoever is available at the end of the season.
There's been rumblings since last year that this will be Southgate's last major tournament as England manager, his contract is up at the end of the year, he has a close connection to Dan Ashworth and he's already managed Rashford, Maguire, Shaw, Mainoo and Mount and seems to be respected by them. Started out as a bit of a wum but I've talked myself into it a bit now, think it'd be a good appointment if it does end up being Southgate. 1. Poch - England 2. De Zerbi - Chelsea 3. Southgate - us 4. Tuchel - Turkey 5. McKenna - Brighton |

Experienced, respected (in the game at least), knows the league, knows some of the squad...
He's been brave enough to make big decisions in his squad selections in the past, binning off older experienced players and taking a risk with young players that are performing well domestically. People like to think he's overly defensive, but in the 2022 World Cup England scored the third most goals in the tournament behind France and Argentina (who both played two more games), and outscoring the Dutch, Brazil, Portugal, Germany and Spain. In Euro 2020 England we're 4th highest scorers with 2 goals splitting the top 4. In the 2018 World Cup we were again 4th highest scorers, scoring more than Brazil, Argentina, Spain and Portugal. In the three major tournaments under Southgate England have reached a World Cup Semi final, England's first ever Euro's final and a World Cup quarter final. The real question is why not? Other than the man having the name 'Gareth Southgate' and looking like Nigel Thornberry's estranged brother. |
