I'm completely biased but I honestly think 2007/2008 was his best year. It was the year he became the player he is today and every year since has just been a continuation. Absolutely adore the bastard.

Honestly think 2006-07 was the one. Probably my favourite non-treble winning season of football ever

If you consider great teams generally have a shelf life of about 3 years, then 06-09 is our greatest imo with peak Ronaldo being the catalyst.

Absolute disgrace we didn't win an FA Cup in that time tbh.

2007 - Chelsea 0-1 in the final
2008 - Portsmouth defeat in the QF (Ronaldo wiped out in the box - no pen. Carrick missed an open goal)
2009 - Beat on pens in the Semi after Fergie played a joke starting lineup, still should have had a pen though iirc.

That was when he was still playing on the wing, destroying fullbacks for fun while still smashing them in left, right and centre.

Obviously since he's gone to Madrid he's an utter stat machine in the way no other player could ever be. But as a spectator, I'd rather watch the United version of Ronaldo any day of the week.

Perhaps the one United game that still irks above all others. Win that and we'd have won the treble ffs.
