Maybe.

But the fact that he can't admit to his own failings speak volumes. That's his team now - he's built it from the Houllier era, something which he wanted to do when he first took over. It's ironic that he won the European Cup with Houlliers players.

He's the man that picks these players, that spends 6-7 million on distinctly average players, rather than picking 2 or 3 players up for 20 million. Then he cries to the press saying he can't compete because United have more money, buy 30 million pound players etc. I think it's common knowlegde that he's spent more than United over the last few seasons. He buys shit (Torres being the exception) and plays some very strange teams when he needs to go for the win.

What a @#%&!. In its 17 years the Chamions League hasn't seen as dour, as unimaginative, as uncreative, as one dimensional and downright jammy a team as these £#%&!ing scouse scum of the earth £#%&!ing @#%&!ing absolute £#%&!ing murdering self pitying whinging bastards

I know he's good for a laugh now and again but I cant stand the #@&%! sometimes with his sour 'somebody has just farted' facial expression and stupid £#%&!ing scouse beard.

Rafa Benitez says Liverpool should get more respect for being what he feels the 'best' club in Europe over the last four years.

Whilst the domestic title has eluded Benitez during his reign at Anfield, he has turned Liverpool into one of the most dominant sides in the UEFA Champions League.

They won the title in 2005 and made the final again in 2007 and, ahead of the second leg of their last 16 clash with Real Madrid on Tuesday, Benitez has questioned the negativity around his club.

"I don't think the messages about our performance have been as positive as they could have been," said Benitez.

"But when you look at what we have done in reaching two finals and a semi, it means a lot of credit for the players, a lot of memories for the club and a lot of money too.

"We've generated money that can be spent on players and that has allowed us to progress every season in my time here.

"I know we could do better and also that we still have some improvement to make in the league but perhaps we deserve some credit for our success in Europe.

"We're very proud of being the best club in Europe over the past five years.

"In the league you need more consistency for nine months. We know we have the quality to compete in Europe, to beat anyone, but maybe not the depth for the league."
