Are they going to at some stage appoint a manager who's achieved something in the game rather than appointing a steady stream of company yes men and expecting messi to pick up the slack?

international football isn't a fair comparison. chris "chris" coleman got sacked at sunderland and the mighty hebei china fortune, but got wales to the semi finals of a major tournament.

koeman's agent

edit: i forgot about his time at southampton too

Yeesh. Hardly renowned for his attacking football.

Probably last as long as a Scar Keto Kick

He took them into the Europa his first season, then sold his top scorer to us and didn't buy a replacement, he did better at Southampton that Pochettino, finishing 7th and 6th in successive seasons.

Also I don't know how many times this needs saying, Barcelona have appointed a fair few managers that have records at other clubs that look a lot more like Koeman's than Alex Ferguson's, Frank Rijkaard and Luis Enrique in particular have records pre Barca that are absolute dog toffee, like shockingly bad and they did alright.

Barca fans always go on about football being played the “barca way”. I remember being a bit flabbergasted at some of them whinging about Enrique after he’d won the treble, because they felt he was moving away from “tiki-taka” and the total football philosophy there. Koeman is all about the possession based football isn’t he?

The thing is, the game is evolving all the time, and unless you’ve got players like Xavi then the slow drawn out approach isn’t going to work these days.

Feels a bit weird saying this but I think they need a fresh start without Messi. He’s unbelievable of course, one of the best players of all time nqat, but I don’t think they can undergo a proper rebuild without getting his wages off the books. It isn’t healthy for any team to be so reliant on one player, regardless of how good that player is.

Only problem with that are that the media are starting to beat the "he desperately wants to go to city" drum

The only problem with getting him to leave is that he wants to leave? I’d say that’s beneficial to the situation
